Supporting Aland Etienne’s Daughter — In His Memory

 Aland Etienne died protecting strangers in the July 28, 2025 shooting at 345 Park Avenue. He left behind two children. The Haitian Community, Inc. is raising funds to support his daughter’s education, stability & daily needs. To protect her privacy as a minor, her name is not used here.

Aland Etienne worked security at 345 Park Avenue for years. On July 28, 2025, a gunman opened fire in the building’s lobby. Aland was unarmed. He took cover, and in his final moments he acted to protect the people around him. He was one of four people killed that day.

He was 46. He was a Haitian immigrant. He was a father.

His brother, Smith Etienne, said it best at the funeral: “His heroism was not only evident in his final act of bravery — it was woven into the fabric of his everyday life.”*

Aland left behind two children. This fund supports his daughter, currently in the first grade. In keeping with her privacy as a minor, we are not using her name or photo in this campaign.

The Haitian Community, Inc. is working with the family to raise funds for:

- School costs 

- Childcare

- An education fund

"Children who lost a parent will always find a way to receive benedictions" says her mom.  

Aland’s death didn’t happen in isolation from everything else Haitian families in the U.S. are facing right now.

Aland’s daughter is raised by her mother, who is her sole caregiver.

- Organized by: The Haitian Community, Inc., working directly with the Etienne family

- Funds go to:  family member’s account, a trust, THC disbursing on the family’s behalf, etc.

- Accountability: how donors can trust the funds reach the child — e.g., periodic updates, contact HCC for queries. 

- Privacy: To protect Aland’s children, who are minors, their names and photos are not used in this campaign.
