Marie Has Always Been the One Who Shows Up — Now It's Her Turn
Marie Germain, a lifelong caregiver who has always put others first, is seeking $50,000 in support to help cover her mortgage, medical care, and essential living expenses after job loss and ongoing health challenges
Marie Germain is the person you call when you don't know who else to call.
She's the friend who shows up — physically, when you need hands, and spiritually, when you need prayer.
She's fostered children who needed a safe home. She spent years as the primary caregiver for her mother
before she passed. She built her career serving elderly members of her community — running a space where
they could share meals, do activities, and feel seen.
Marie gives. That's just who she is.
But Marie has also spent years dealing with a cascade of challenges that she never asked for — and never
asked for help with.
Years ago, Marie suffered a bad fall. It wasn't treated properly at the time because funds were tight, and what
should have healed became a chain reaction: nerve damage, ongoing pain, and medical costs that kept piling
up. She needed eye surgery that she's still paying for, with monthly injections that are essential — and
expensive. The physical toll is one thing. The financial toll of trying to stay afloat alone through all of it is
another.
Then the facility where she worked — the place where she served elderly community members with meals,
activities, and dignity — closed its doors. Marie lost her job. And without income, three months of mortgage
payments became impossible to catch up on. Her home is now in forbearance.
WHY THIS IS HARD FOR HER
If you know Marie, you know she didn't want to make this page.
Asking for help is not in her nature. She is the helper. The strong one. The one who tells you she'll pray on it
and somehow makes you feel better even when she's carrying her own weight. She is proud — not out of
ego, but because she has always believed in showing up for herself the way she shows up for others.
But right now, the math doesn't work alone. And this is where we — her community, her village, everyone
who has ever been lifted by someone like Marie — get to show up for her.
WHAT WE'RE RAISING — $50,000
Mortgage: Bringing her home current (~4 months behind) and stabilizing housing while she job-hunts.
Medical care: Ongoing monthly eye injections and management of nerve damage from her fall.
Basic living costs: Utilities, food, and transportation while she gets back on her feet.
Marie isn't sitting still. She's actively looking for work. She's handling her health. In her quiet moments, she
makes beautiful flower arrangements — the kind of thing someone does when they know how to create
beauty even in hard seasons. She just needs a bridge.
THE ASK
If Marie has ever been there for you — in person, in prayer, in some small way you still remember — this is a
chance to be there for her. If you don't know her personally but you know what it means to be the strong one
who finally needs to be held up, your kindness matters here too.
Even $25 helps. Sharing this page helps just as much.
Thank you for being part of what Marie has always given so freely: community.
